    Guatemala is in Central America, bordered by Mexico, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador. El Paredón is a charming beach town on Guatemala’s Pacific coast, about 2 hours from Guatemala City, known for its black volcanic sand beaches and great surfing. Within the town's 20-block stretch, you can find all kinds of shops, eateries, adventure activities, and entertainment.
  • Is Guatemala safe for me and my family?
    Guatemala is a beautiful destination that many families enjoy visiting, with crime rarely affecting tourists and foreign residents. In popular areas like El Paredón, the environment is welcoming and safe for tourists. Families can have a wonderful time exploring and relaxing, especially by following basic safety tips like staying in well-known areas and being aware of your surroundings. Many families have great experiences here, making it a memorable vacation spot.
  • Where is La Bahía located?
    La Bahía is located in El Paredón, just steps from the beach. The premises spans over 11,000 square feet, including five villas, gardens, an outdoor pool, outdoor kitchen, on-site parking, laundry, utility rooms, a restaurant, bar, shop, and more. As part of the beachfront block of properties, it offers extremely easy access to the ocean with beautiful coastal views.
  • How do I get transport to La Bahía?
    Transport to La Bahía can be very easily arranged. Whether you prefer a private shuttle, shared shuttle, rental car, or taxi service, options are available to suit your needs. Many typically arrive in El Paredón from either Guatemala City, Antigua, or Lake Atitlán. Whatever your preference, wherever your location, the team at La Bahía is happy to assist with booking your transportation for a smooth arrival. Simply contact us via WhatsApp and we will take care of you.
  • Can I buy groceries in El Paredón?
    Yes. El Paredón has numerous cafés, restaurants, bars, hotels, hostels, a bakery, butcher, fishmonger, pharmacy, and several grocery stores where you can find a wide range of items, including fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, tortillas, baked goods, cheese, meats, alcohol, and toiletries. You’ll be able to get most of what you need locally. For select specialty items, we recommend bringing it with you from Antigua, Guatemala City, or to visit the neighbouring town of Puerto San José.
  • Is there a beach at El Paredón?
    Yes. El Paredon is located on the Pacific Coast of Guatemala which stretches 300km between Mexico and El Salvador, known for its beautiful black volcanic sand beaches. It’s a great spot for relaxing, sunbathing, and enjoying the coastal views. The beach is also popular for surfing due to its strong waves, making it a favorite destination for both beach lovers and surfers alike. The beach is less than 100m / 30s walk from your La Bahía villa.
  • Is it safe to swim in the water in front of La Bahía?
    While El Paredon has a beautiful beach with warm waters, the ocean here can become challenging at times for swimming due to the large waves and rip tides. It’s important to exercise caution and best to swim during calmer times if conditions seem rough, especially for families with young children, as lifeguards may not always be on duty. For the safest experience, consider enjoying the beach from the shore or taking a dip in the pool.
  • I work remotely. How is the internet there?
    La Bahía offers Starlink satellite internet, which provides fast, reliable, and encrypted Wi-Fi, ideal for digital nomads and remote workers. While it’s not quite like what a competitive video gamer might expect in the city, it’s more than sufficient for uninterrupted work and leisure needs including video calls, social media, email, and streaming services. At La Bahía you can enjoy a blend of connectivity and beautiful surroundings.
  • Are pets welcome at La Bahía?
    While we love animals, we do not allow guest pets at La Bahía. This policy helps us maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and allergen-free environment for all our guests and their children. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in making sure everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable stay. If you have an extremely cute little puppy however - an exception might be made.
  • How do I purchase a residence?
    To secure your selection, you will execute a non-binding reservation form, engage a lawyer in Guatemala, and deposit 10% of the asking price. $10,000 USD of the total deposit amount is non-refundable. Your reservation then secures a sixty (60) day period to finalize and execute a contract with La Bahía's legal team. The contract will state a closing date, at which time you will close on the property, after which you will receive possession of the legal rights of your investment, and a key to your new property, as guaranteed by the Constitutions of the Republic of Guatemalan.
  • What are the closing costs?
    When buying a property at La Bahía, your closing costs will be the purchase price, plus 10% (4% legal & administration fees / 6% property management fees).
  • Is financing available?
    No. Financing is not available. Outright payment is required upon closing.
  • What taxes does Guatemala have?
    Guatemala levies 7% personal income tax, 10% capital gains tax, and 12% sales tax. Guatemala has no tax treaties in place. You should consult with a professional tax advisor from your home country and in Guatemala for any tax advice.
  • How long can I stay on vacation in Guatemala?
    Most foreign nationals can stay in Guatemala for up to 90 days. After 90 days, a 90 day extension can be obtained for a fee. After 180 days you must leave Guatemala for 72 hours before being able to return. For more information about staying in Guatemala including temporary residency, and work permits, consulting with an immigration lawyer or certified consultant is always recommended.
  • Is there a building code in Guatemala?
    Guatemala mostly complies with international building codes that regulate construction to ensure safety and structural integrity. These codes are enforced by local municipalities and vary depending on the region. La Bahía has been built using Guatemalan architects and contractors who are familiar with regulations and best building practices. The project has been developed, financed, and project managed by a Canadian team with design and build experience in Ontario, Canada.
  • Do you have furniture packages?
    Yes. Your home purchase includes appliances only. Should you not wish to furnish the residence yourself, we offer furniture packages as a convenience to owners, as furnishing a home in El Paredon is a significant task. Our team can assist you with furnishing and artwork to a specified budget for your convenience. A furniture package is available that may be purchased at your option, and customized as you wish. The furniture packages are designed to be of a consistent quality and durability for long-term stays as well as maximizing rental income.
  • Can I customize my residence further?
    Structural or exterior customizations to your residence are not permitted. This policy is in place to maintain the uniformity and aesthetic consistency of the community, as well as to ensure that all properties adhere to municipal regulations. We appreciate your understanding and are confident that the existing design will provide you with a beautiful and comfortable living space.
  • How does La Bahía's Owners' Club work?
    All the amenities and common areas at La Bahía are part of The Owner's Club. Think of it as a combination of an HOA and a private club. Club dues will be like HOA or strata dues (maintenance fees) at a typical resort development or standard condominium development. The biggest differences are: The Owner's Club is operated strictly for the benefit of owners, unlike hotel-branded resorts, for example, where the focus is placed on guests. At La Bahía, each owner pays a 6% Club Fee which subsidizes the Club operating fund and contingency reserve fund - used for expenses including, staffing fees, garbage collection, and common area repairs. Etc. The Owner's Club amenities and services emphasize fun and enjoyment for your family and guests while discarding any pretentious or unnecessary operations often prevalent in such establishments. The 6% Club Fee is paid in addition to the purchase of your home and is collected at closing.
  • Do I have to be a member?
    Yes. Membership is compulsory because the amenities, common areas, security, infrastructure, and services are for the benefit of all homeowners.
  • Who manages the Club?
    The Club will be managed by Paredon Holdings Group S.A., a property management and construction company formed by the developer and is dedicated to managing La Bahía.
  • Who is responsible for property management?
    Paredon Holding Group S.A. will provide property management services tailored to your needs, whether you choose to personally live in your residence or rent it out. If you choose to rent your residence, Paredon Holding Group S.A. will be required to exclusively manage your property.
  • Can I rent out my villa?
    Yes. If you choose to rent your residence, you may rent it out through Paredon Holding Group S.A. This is necessary to maintain consistent high standards, which directly translate to maximizing property values and rental income for all owners. Paredon Holding Group S.A. will charge a 20% fee (commission) on all rentals which covers expenses including check-ins, housekeeping, room amenities (fresh drinking water / towels / toilet paper / shampoos. Etc.), laundry, credit card fees, marketing, reservation management, and accounting. La Bahía Management is dedicated to full transparency and fair dealing with all homeowners.
  • Is the restaurant, bar, and shop part of the Club?
    The restaurant, bar, and shop are independently owned and operated, and open to the public, with benefits to Club Members including discounts on food and drink, and food delivery. Paredon Holdings S.A. has approval rights on the menu and pricing at the restaurant. The restaurant and bar are designed to offer a casual yet sophisticated vibe featuring fresh food and quality and beverages. The establishments will not be a financial burden on Club Members, where there are no food and beverage minimums required as per other clubs.
  • Is the restaurant, bar, and shop open to the public?
    Yes, although owners will receive certain benefits. The establishments are independently operated and open to the public. Which means that they will not be a financial burden on Club Members, where there are no food and beverage minimums required as per other clubs.
  • What other club facilities will there be?

  • What additional services are available?

  • How is security provided?
    The Club will have extensive video surveillance throughout the common areas and access points that provide 24/7 monitoring. The entrance gate remains locked when not in use by vehicles, and the entry door remains accessible only by coded entry.
  • What water sports toys will the Club have available?
    Kayaks, surfboards, pool floats & inflatables, fishing rods, and kids' beach toys will be available to all owners and guests.
